Staying in is the new going out but that doesn’t mean that you can’t escape every once in a while. Especially when you live in a place like Seattle. Because let’s face it, there are so many outdoor spots to check out. So with that in mind, here are 8 of the coolest places to go for a winter walk in and around Seattle.
It’s the heart of the city and also packed full of rich history. So if you want to head downtown we recommend taking a stroll through Pioneer Square. After all, you’ll get to see some amazing buildings and you get to experience Seattle in a much quieter way.
This still seems to be somewhat of a city secret and it’s probably because this garden is tucked away in South Seattle. However, it boasts 20 amazing acres of Japanese gardens and is beautiful year-round. Plus it just so happens to be free to visit!

Truly an oldie but most definitely a goodie. Lake Washington Boulevard is the place for a lakefront walk in our opinion. Plus, Lake Washington is always a beautiful view, no matter the season. And you can make your walk as long or as short as you want thanks to the length of this road.
There’s a reason why this hike is so popular, it’s because it’s beautiful. And that applies year-round. So if you’ve never seen a frozen waterfall we highly recommend checking out this hike. Although thanks to global warming, who knows if the waterfall will freeze this year.
Where: North Bend, WA
If you want to head a little South of downtown then you need to head to Georgetown. We’re huge fans of this super cool neighborhood that’s home to shops, galleries, and restaurants. And we think it’s an especially great place to check out during the winter due to its old-timey charm. They also have a cool monthly art walk worth checking out.
You really thought we wouldn’t include this on our list? The Arboretum is an obvious pick but for a good reason, it’s truly one of the best places to walk in the city. And due to the size, it’s easy to keep your distance from others. Plus you can stop at Belle Epicurean Bakery on your way in or out of the park.

You know the Olympic Sculpture Park but do you know Myrtle Edwards? This park along the water is perfect for visiting after your stroll through the sculpture garden. And while you’re at it, you can also check out Centennial Park. Because Seattle waterfront is always worth walking by.

And finally, we have to cap this list with Seattle’s most iconic spot. After all, the market is pretty special during the holidays. And while things might be different this year it’s always great to walk through and support local businesses. Plus you can check out all the hidden art at the market.
