No matter the time of year in Calgary, cozy coffee shops are perfect places to hang. You can catch up with friends, get some work or studying done, have a little date, or just sit back with a hot drink and slow the world down for a minute. To help you find the perfect spot for all of the above, here is our list of 10 wonderfully cozy coffee shops in Calgary.

Alforno Bakery and Cafe

Alforno

Alforno is the perfect place for a coffee date, a meeting, a productivity push, or a casual hang out. Their coffee is obviously top-notch, but we’d be lying if we said our favourite thing on the menu could be sucked through a straw. Delicious pizza, sandwiches, and more round out this spot as a Calgary must.

Analog

Yes, we know, we know. Analog is on every Calgary coffee shop list. No matter the season, the occasion, or the time of day, Analog seems to be a “one shop fits all” joint. The place is always busy (17th Ave, especially) but hey, that’s part of the Analog charm! After all, if you can’t throw your headphones in and drown out the noise with a Spotify Indie-folk-electronica mix are you really even in a coffee shop?

Caffe Beano

Okay, so Caffe Beano has a loyal clientele and is often busy, but if you can snag a seat it’s definitely warm and comfortable. It’s a little old school and straight to the point, but what else should a coffee shop be? Fun fact, these guys are the second oldest independent coffee shop in the city. So you could say they know what they’re brewing.

Higher Ground is one of our favourite coffee spots. It’s an extremely lively place with great staff and an amazing menu, but with enough nooks and crannies that you can find a spot to cozy up and chill. This place is perfect for getting a day’s worth of work done, a get-together with pals, or if you’re jonesing for a nightcap. Oh, and they also have a Capitol Hill location in case the Kensington one seems a little too packed.

At Luke’s, you can refill a prescription, browse the award-winning record selection, buy a few groceries, hit the bakery, drop something off at the post office, get ice cream and then grab a coffee. If busy isn’t your scene, they also have another location in the Calgary Public Library.
