“There is something for everyone; photographers, artists, golfers, rafters, kayakers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, fishermen and hunters alike,” they say on their website.

Located west of Edmonton along the provincial border, this beautiful spot is surrounded by sweeping views of the 21 mountain peaks and 2 river valleys.

From mom-and-pop restos to adorable shops, visitors are encouraged to walk around town – then head into trees and to places like Willmore Wilderness Park and Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreational Area.

Tucked away off of Highway 40, just south of the town this area is more than 1,000 hectares and is totally free and fit for hiking, biking, horseback, camping and even geocaching.

Bonus points for it being absolutely stunning.

Want to check it out? Next time you’ve got an open weekend pack up and head out – but don’t forget the road snacks!

It’s a bit of a drive – but is totally worth the trip.
