The Millarville Christmas Market returns this November, and if you want to get a head start on your holiday shopping, nearly 300 vendors will set up shop just south of Calgary. The annual market has run since 1988 and features local vendors selling handmade goods, Christmas decorations, and gifts.
Alongside the vendors, there will also be family-friendly activities including face painting, photos with Santa, and the Kids Only Shoppe, where children can pick out gifts for their family and friends.
With the market fast approaching, here’s everything you need to know about this year’s event, from dates and tickets to what you can find there.
According to organizers, the Millarville Christmas Market has been a holiday tradition in Alberta since 1988. Each November, the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society hosts the market for eight days, with more than 300 vendors selling Christmas decorations, handmade goods, jewellery, and clothing. Alongside the shopping, you can grab a bite from the food trucks, take photos with Santa, and even get your face painted.
If you’ve got kids, they can get some shopping done, too! The market features a Kids Only Shoppe, where children ages five to 12 can find Christmas gifts for their family without their parents picking everything out. Upon arrival, friendly elves will help young shoppers choose from items priced at $15 or less and more than 80 per cent of the gifts are handcrafted, made locally, or donated by local vendors.
Each purchase from the Kids Only Shoppe will also be wrapped, so it can be kept a surprise until Christmas morning,
The Millarville Christmas Market takes place over two weekends this year, running from Thursday, Nov. 5 to Sunday, Nov. 8 and Nov. 12 to 15, 2026. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so you’ll have eight days to browse everything the market has to offer.
The market is hosted at the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society, located in Millarville, Alta. If you’re coming from Calgary, the community is located about a 40-minute drive southwest of the city, and free, on-site parking will be available. According to organizers, the parking lot can fill up fast, so it’s recommended that you arrive early to snag a spot, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.
Tickets cost $8 per person, and children aged 12 and under can attend for free. You can purchase tickets online directly through the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society official website or at the door. If you’re purchasing tickets online, you’ll be asked to select a specific date and time slot. Once you’re in, you’re more than welcome to stay at the market for the rest of the day.
If you’re planning to spend a few hours at the market, there are a few things to keep in mind heading out. According to organizers, the market has both indoor and outdoor shopping areas, with four heated spaces available, including the Arena, Hall, Quonset and a large tent,
Since some vendors and activities are set up outdoors, organizers recommend dressing in warm layers and wearing appropriate footwear, as the ground can get muddy depending on the weather.
With spooky season coming to a close, now’s a great time to start holiday shopping, and the Millarville Christmas Market is a great place to find gifts for everyone on your list.
See you at the market!
