Because Goodwill Alberta just brought back the Goodwill Thrifting Hall of Fame.
Back for its second year, this virtual Hall of Fame has grown bigger and better this year. Think more categories, more prizes and an actual award event.
In case you aren’t in the know, Goodwill Alberta launched the Thrifting Hall of Fame. This virtual hall of fame immortalizes thrifters from across Alberta. Thrifters who have made a lasting impact in the world of second-hand shopping and in turn, supported the local community.
As it happens, thrifters Alberta-wide also help further Goodwill’s mission to provide programs and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities or barriers. This allows them to find and gain meaningful employment. And this is another reason why Goodwill decided to honour thrifters.
Circling back to the Thrifting Hall of Fame 2023, you can nominate someone- even yourself- who you think deserves to be inducted.
This year’s Hall of Fame is recognizing six categories:
- Antique Finds
- DIY of the Year
- Fashionable Finds
- Donor of the Year
- Home Décor Hero
- People’s Choice Award
One winner from each category will be inducted into the 2023 Hall of Fame and win their prize package. This includes a one-night stay at a Calgary hotel, a Goodwill gift card, swag bag, Trophy and, of course, virtual HOF recognition.
Additionally, this year the inductees will be honoured with a special award ceremony at the Carriage House Hotel and Conference Centre in Calgary. The award event will take place on Saturday, August 26th.
All you have to do to nominate yourself or other thrifting pros around you is fill out their online nomination form (link below). Add in what category you are nominating for and jot down why you think the nominee deserves to win.
