If you’re a mountain lover, there’s no place more magical to visit than the small town of Golden, BC. Nestled between two heritage rivers and the Canadian Rockies, the beautiful town is surrounded by not one, not two, but six national parks – all with captivating views and natural features to explore.
This includes Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Mount Revelstoke National Parks.
For one, Yoho National Park offers visitors no shortage of scenic hiking trails, as well as beautiful turquoise waters for swimming and paddling at Emerald Lake.
Kootenay National Park is home to the Burgess Shale fossils – AKA some of the oldest and most complex fossils in the world. Hikers here can enjoy multi-day backpacking opportunities and day hikes through glaciers and waterfalls.
At Glacier National Park, visitors can witness some of Canada’s unique mountain heritage, according to Tourism Golden.
Of note, visitors can hike along the abandoned Canadian Pacific Railway line that once took passengers from coast to coast, passing through the Selkirk Mountains.
