There’s a park in northern Ontario with over 20 deep, spring-fed lakes. If you’re looking for a last minute summer adventure or planning ahead for fall, head to Kettle Lakes Provincial Park and see what all the hype is about.

About seven hours north of Toronto is Kettle Lakes Provincial Park. This nature escape offers plenty of outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and swimming. The basics.

According to Ontario Parks, this park has 22 deep, spring-fed kettle lakes formed by glaciers. And many of them are stocked with Rainbow and Brook Trout, including Northern Pike and Yellow Perch.

You will also be able to go boating and canoeing on select lakes such as Hughes Lakes.

Bringing your bike? Kettle Lakes has 14 kilometres of biking trails to explore.

“The trails wind through the forest and lead you to Slab Lake where you can have a swim before continuing your journey,” shares Ontario Parks. You can rent bikes if you don’t have your own, at the front gate though.

If you’re looking for a hiking experience, there are four different trails, each with its own appeal.

Kettle Trail is a great choice as it leads you along an ancient glacial riverbed “and passes bogs that occupy some of the kettle depressions,” per Ontario Parks.

Once you’re done your climb, head for a swim at one of the two main beach areas that are located on Island Lake, Slab Lake, and Green Lake.

There’s lots to see and do at this thrilling park so what are you waiting for? Plan your trip ASAP
