Washington is a beautiful state, and one that is full of natural wonders to explore. And this year, the National Park Services sites will have free admission on select days, so you can head out and enjoy them. Wondering when the next free National Park day is?

The first one is coming up soon, on January 15. Following that, there will be five more Free National Park days throughout 2024.

Here are the fee–free dates in 2024:

January 15: Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
April 20: First day of National Park Week
June 19: Juneteenth National Independence Day
August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
September 28: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day

“National parks are America’s best idea, and there are more than 400 parks available to everyone, every day,” states the National Park Service.

“The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite, especially one of the national parks that normally charge an entrance fee. The others are free all the time.”

Of note, the entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation, or special tours, according to the National Park Service.

“The annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass allows unlimited entrance to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks that normally charge an entrance fee,” they add.
