Hungry for new eats and a slice of history? We’ve got an exciting new development in downtown Vancouver to share. Internationally renowned Fogo de Chão from Brazil is expanding to Canada, and its first location in the country will be situated at Vancouver’s historic Canada Post building.

Historic location

QuadReal Property Group undertook the complex task of revitalizing The Post at 658 Homer Street back in the spring of 2019, which has since developed into “a vibrant retail hub” with a mix of community spaces and office space.

And now, the Brazilian steakhouse will occupy 7,778 square feet of The Post’s 185,000 square-foot retail space, according to the release. The news comes on the heels of the brand’s massive success this year and last year, with 12 new domestic and international leases already signed, sealed, and delivered.

“Bringing Fogo de Chão’s first Canada location to life in Downtown Vancouver is very exciting for us, given the brand’s established success in the USA, Brazil and across the world,” said Michael Wilkings, CEO and Founder of Debut Development Group. “We’re looking forward to providing the city of Vancouver and visitors to The Post with the Brazilian hospitality and next-level dining experience that Fogo is renowned for.”

Vancouver’s Fogo de Chão marks the first of at least ten planned Fogo locations to launch across the country over the next decade, in partnership with Debut Development Group.

“We look forward to expanding our presence in the Vancouver area and bringing the culinary art of churrasco to more guests throughout Canada in the near future,” says Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão.

The menu

For those who aren’t familiar, Fogo serves up everything from their signature steak cuts to classic seafood plates, to weekend brunch. They even have a seasonal market table with an array of specialty dishes inspired by the markets of Southern Brazil.

As for an official opening date, we have a bit of a wait ahead of us. But the restaurant revealed its plans to open in spring 2024.

So in the meantime, you can browse their Instagram feed, or if in town, check out this new restaurant opening in Vancouver this weekend.
