The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting a big night at their game against the Vancouver Canucks this weekend. This Saturday, you can tune in to catch the You Can Play Night, live from the Scotiabank Arena. This incredible initiative is all about ensuring equality, respect, and safety for all those who participate in sports – including LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches, and fans.

In honour of the event, the Maple Leafs will be promoting equality all night long. Things will kick off with a public service announced highlighting the history of the partnership between You Can Play and the Leafs. This will be shown in-arena and on the team’s social media channels.

On top of that, all pre-game lighting on ice and in the galleria will be rainbow-coloured. Plus, players will use Pride Tape on their sticks for warmups. That tape will later be auctioned, with all the proceeds being donated in support of You Can Play and local LGBTQ+ organizations. Pretty impressive stuff, right?

But that’s not all. You can get involved too! Even though you can’t attend the game in person, you can participate by posting a photo on social media of yourself wearing rainbow colours. When you do this, you’ll have a chance to have your photo featured during the actual game! Is that exciting or what?

To make things even better, Scotiabank and the Toronto Maple Leafs will be making a donation of $20,000 to You Can Play in support of LGBTQ+ youth programming in the GTA. We’ll give a round of applause to that!

So tune in this weekend to catch all the action live. The Leafs will be facing the Canucks on Saturday, May 1st at 7 PM.
