Over a year after it was first announced, a super popular pizza concept has broken ground! Edmonton is set to get the first California Pizza Kitchen in all of Canada, thanks to a partnership with a local restauranteur. Here’s what to know about it.

The move was actually first announced way back in February of 2020. Which was, of course, a month before the whole global pandemic thing threw a real wrench in its (and everything else’s) plans. Lucky for us, the plan is still on, and moving forward!

California Pizza Kitchen will be setting up shop in the Currents of Windemere shopping centre. According to the Financial Post, the restaurant will be able to seat some 225 guests once opened, and will have indoor and outdoor dining areas.

The concept focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients to create a variety of pizzas, pasta, salads and more. Options include everything from their iconic Original BBQ Chicken Pizza to a Thai Crunch Salad and some Spicy Mexican Fettucine.

The Edmonton location is the starting point of a national expansion, as California Pizza Kitchen is hoping to open locations in Vancouver and Toronto as well. But, we get to try it first! We’ll update you with an opening date once it’s announced.
