“A slow slide into fall”: The Weather Network just released its fall forecast for BC

While we still technically have about another week or so of summer left, things are officially starting to cool down in Vancouver this week. So, while we wait for the air quality to return to normal levels, we might as well take a look at what’s in store this upcoming season. Luckily, The Weather Network just released its official fall forecast for Canada and BC – so let’s dive right in.

According to the release, summer finished strong across Canada with hot and dry weather during August and most of September.

Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network Chris Scott predicts that most Canadians will experience “extended periods of pleasant fall weather” through much of October. “However, a much wetter and stormier pattern is expected to develop for mid & late fall for B.C., and we are closely watching the tropics and the risk for storms to impact Atlantic Canada.”

As for the deets, The Weather Network says the drier start to the season could result in a heightened risk for wildfires continuing later into fall than normal. However, mid and late season, Raincouver will pick up where she left off, resulting in a much wetter pattern than usual.

So, expect a fair amount of fall storms and rainy days, and likely above-average precipitation totals this year. And now, for a bit of good news: If temperatures remain near normal at the end of fall (as they are forecasted to), ski season should start right on time!

And that’s all we’ve got for now, Vancouver. We’ll check back in soon!
