This is when we could start to see fall colours in Alberta’s Banff National Park

Pumpkin spice is back and we’re feeling that familiar Autumn tingle – but there’s one thing that’ll really set sweater season in motion and that’s red, orange and yellow leaves!

One of the best places to see Fall foliage in Alberta is Banff National Park and around Lake Lousie, but timing is everything.

In Wild Rose Country, those who blink could just miss the season between summer and winter, so it’ll be important to mark your calendar.

According to Banff and Lake Louise Tourism, those who live for warmer colours and comfortable weather are encouraged to visit the park around the middle of September, however, this varies from year to year.

“Coming to Banff and Lake Louise in the last two weeks of September offers you the best opportunity to see the fall colours,” they wrote.

“Although, when the fall colours in Banff start to pop is heavily weather-dependent.”

Luckily, If you’re unsure as to whether or not you’ll be able to see firey hues in the area, you can actually check one of many live cams that they have listed on their website.

As to what you can prepare to see? No matter your destination, larch and aspen trees are the most common and can be found in groves scattered along trails and roads.

Some of the very best hikes you can take to see them include the aptly named Larch Valley and the Lake Agnes Tea House Trail – which leads to a ‘secret’ destination only open until October 9th.

If of course, you’re not into hiking, those visiting the park can also climb aboard the Banff Gondola, rent a scooter, or take an Open-Top Tour (also until October 9th.

Either way, you’re in for some incredible sights, adventure-seekers. There really is nothing quite like fall foliage in Alberta.
