Not only has it launched the careers of multiple international stars, but it was also good enough for Will Ferrell to make a feature-length spoof about it. So, hearing that Canada is set to get its own version of Eurovision is seriously music to our ears. Here’s what we know so far.

Yesterday, the Toronto-based company Insight Productions made a big announcement. Not only are they bringing the hit series to Canada, but they’ve even partnered with producers of the show, ASC, Inc., to get things going. Not that we don’t trust Insight, which is also behind shows like Big Brother Canada and Top Chef Canada.

Keeping in line with the overseas version, the adaptation of Eurovision in Canada will see competitors from each of the 10 provinces and 3 territories compete in front of the nation. And honestly, we’re now thinking just how much diversity the country’s music scene has- we want East Coast sea shanties, country from the Prairies… give us the works!

More information about the spin off series will be released in the future, including which cities will host and which networks will air it. But, we can expect things to kick off by 2023. We might just have to work on our vocal range before then…
