A 23-year-old Canadian is quickly making a name for herself as one of the most successful contestants to ever compete on Jeopardy!. Mattea Roach, who hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia, is crushing the competition with 13 wins in a row as of Thursday, April 21.

Roach’s rare winning streak is the eighth longest in the show’s history and the best performance of any Canadian contestant, reports The Canadian Press via CP24.

So far, Roach has won $286,081 and has secured her spot in the Jeopardy! Hall of Fame.

The young champion currently lives and works in Toronto as a tutor. According to her LinkedIn, she graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in sexual diversity studies and political science.

She grew up on the east coast and has also lived in Moncton and Calgary, the outlet reports.

As a result of her newfound fame, Roach says that both Haligonians and Torontonians are keen to claim her as their hometown pride.

“People in Nova Scotia, and then also people in Toronto – the two places that I associate myself most closely with – have been very eager to claim me as belonging more to one than the other,” said Roach to The Canadian Press.

Roach is very active on Twitter, where she shares recaps and commentary for every episode.

She also cracks a lot of funny jokes.
