Breathe in, breathe out, and let yourself unwind like never before. Imagine the serenity of being in the middle of the forest on a perfect fall day. Now picture that plus an immersive Nordic sauna experience. That’s right, Canada’s first mirrored sauna is right here in Alberta and you can get to it from Edmonton in less than an hour!
Elk Island Retreat just added the ultimate upgrade to Alberta’s favourite wilderness escape.
You may already know them for glamping experiences, geodomes, and top-tier stargazing. Well, now they have Canada’s first mirrored sauna, shipped to these humble woods straight from Estonia courtesy of ÖÖD House.
This stunning sauna is nestled in the beautiful forest and is designed to provide “warmth, tranquillity, and a deep connection with nature.”
It’s relaxation in its ultimate form!
You can book a standalone Nordic Sauna experience or add it to an existing reservation at Elk Island Retreat. It’s $49 for a 2-hour time slot if you’re adding it to a reservation, and $99 for 2 hours if you’re booking a standalone experience. Make sure to plan ahead and book early if you want to try it this fall!
Every sauna reservation includes linen towels, a curated selection of aromatherapy scents, and all the sauna essentials like pre-cut wood, natural wood starter and lighter, a copper bucket with water and ladle, and sandals.
Make sure you bring your bathing suit and some water to stay hydrated!
If you really want to make the experience special, you can add a luxury outdoor picnic complete with gourmet treats and cheeses, charcuterie, and a selection of local wines. The picnic also includes a Bluetooth speaker, blankets and cushions, a tumbling tower game, and an artisanal gift.
If you just want some snacks, you can order the charcuterie board which includes a selection of local delicacies and fine cheeses, paired with your choice of wine or sparkling juice.
Consider this your sign to book a serene, weekend escape. And yes, we’re definitely jealous.
