This popular BC park with swimming holes has a ‘thundering waterfall’

Waterfall lovers, this one’s for you! Elk Falls in British Columbia is a majestic provincial park with a ‘thundering’ waterfall that drops 25 metres, and it’s a must-visit this summer.

Situated three kilometres from the park’s campground, the beautiful falls are surrounded by lush old-growth trees and spawning salmon – making the park home to some of the finest year-round salmon fishing in the country, according to BC Parks.

Visitors can explore an extensive network of forested trails, the nearby Quinsam salmon hatchery, and multiple swimming holes by the falls for a cool summer dip.

There’s also an elevated suspension bridge offering spectacular views of the forest and falls below!

Elk Falls Provincial Park is also home to the only significant strand of old-growth Douglas fir north of MacMillan Park.

Campers have a picnic area with multiple ‘easy’ walking trails to explore, as well as 77 front-country reservable campsites.

Those who choose to camp at the park have plenty of day-tripping options, including Gold River, the Sayward Dorest, Kelsey Bay, Rock Bay, Quadra Park, and Cortes Island.

In the fall, a variety of spawning salmon can be observed in the Quinsam and Campbell Rivers.

So there you have it, BC!
