This charming Ontario town is surrounded by frozen waterfalls & snowy trails

Enjoying Ontario’s winter charm lately? We definitely have! We’re on a winter adventure and the enchanting town of Dundas, Ontario is next on our list. This “valley town” transforms into a snowy wonderland, with historic buildings nestled in the heart of the frosty Dundas Valley. Home to frozen waterfalls and snowy trails, you’re in for a treat.

You’ll need to head west of Toronto, about an hour away, and that is where you’ll find Dundas, the charming town with a quaint downtown core, surrounded by nature. With this recent snowfall, the entire region is blanketed in snow, offering wonderful, pristine vistas.

Next stop: Dundas, Ontario

According to Downtown Dundas BIA, its tree-lined streets feature historic 19th-century buildings, and it is home to arts, culture, recreation, and over 100 shops, restaurants and more. If you’re searching for a winter escape, this is the best way to avoid the busy city streets.

Though it’s a great town to fuel up if you’re looking for a bite or two, what stands out the most is its proximity to a number of waterfalls just minutes away from the downtown core. And in the chilly season, these tend to freeze up – if there’s flowing water.

Frozen Falls & Snowy Trails

According to Tourism Hamilton, Websters Falls is “one of the largest and most popular waterfalls in the area, with its scenic surroundings and dramatic 22-metre drop.” It’s part of the Spencer Gorge/Webster Falls Conservation Area, and it’s minutes away from the downtown core.

Another sight to behold is Tews Falls! It’s the tallest in the area, and marks the beginning of the hike to Dundas Peak with stunning valley views, per Tourism Hamilton.

Chasing waterfalls? Make sure to explore Canterbury Falls, Sherman Falls, Lower Little Falls, and Tiffany Falls in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.

This conservation area is described as “one of southern Ontario’s most spectacular natural treasures.” It is comprised of forests, meadows, streams, wildlife, waterfalls, and ancient geological formations – perfect for a hiking adventure. Exploring the snowy region may seem like fun but can become dangerous if you’re not prepared. Just make sure to keep aware of your surroundings when embarking on this thrilling journey and have fun

That being said, if you’re in your walking era, embark on the 40 km recreational trail system that runs through the towns of Ancaster and Dundas. That’s a way to get your steps in!
There’s so much to explore and discover in the town of Dundas, and we’re certain you’ll fall in love with it.

So, who’s up for turning this into an unforgettable winter road trip?
