It looks like Joe Mimran is reinventing himself from retail fashion mogul to restauranteur. Mimran, the creator of Joe Fresh and Club Monaco, who also appears on Dragon’s Den, has opened up a modern spot for premium Italian dining in downtown Toronto with co-owner Tony Longo.
Quadro Ristorante takes up 3,300 sq ft in Little Italy and serves up a curated selection of pizzas, pastas, cocktails and imported Italian wines.
The atmosphere is described as “sophisticated, inviting and unpretentious” all at the same time. It even has a hidden back patio and events space on the second floor.

On the menu, you’ll find appetizers like housemade focaccia, pillowy zucchini, and ricotta fritters and savoury meatballs, and mains including wood-fired Neapolitan style pizzas, ravioli mascarpone, and more.
“The only thing harder than the fashion industry is the restaurant business,” said Joe Mimran in a statement sent to Curiocity. “We’re thrilled to open our initial location on College Street where so many restaurants have been born and we truly believe in the menu and atmosphere we’ve built.”
Quadro Ristorante is among many exciting new restaurants and dining concepts to open in the city this summer, including Toronto’s hot new Beach Club and Mykonos-inspired Greek restaurant, Myth. Today also marks the opening of the city’s luxurious 1 Hotel, which has several restaurants of its own.
