GlobalFest returns this year brighter than ever for an explosive 5-day event

We understand you might be feeling down right now after a crazy July- from reopening, Stampede to some of the hottest summer days the city has seen. Luckily, there’s a 5-day festival coming up to spice up the rest of summer for us.

Alberta’s most explosive festival returns this August after pausing their 2020 edition due to Covid. GlobalFest kicks off on Thursday, August 19th, hosting a delicious selection of international food booths and not 1 but 5 world-class pyro-musical shows!

THIS YEAR’S PARTICIPANTS

Take a peek at this year’s lineup, it looks seriously lit!

  • Thursday, August 19th – Team China
  • Saturday, August 2st  – Team India
  • Tuesday, August 24th – Team Japan
  • Thursday, August 26th – Team Philippines
  • Saturday, August 28th –  GlobalFest Finale

You’ll want to get your tickets fast while they are still available. And for the first year ever, date-specific tickets are being sold exclusively online! Kids 5 and under get in for free though, when accompanied by an adult of course.

If you purchased tickets for last year’s edition that got cancelled due to Covid restrictions, you’re in luck! You are eligible to exchange those tickets for the 2021 edition admission. Buy or exchange your tickets here.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU EXPECT?

GlobalFest is more than just fireworks! The OneWorld Festival will feature four stages with performances and a delicious selection of international food booths. We recommend getting down to Elliston Park early and eating your way through those before heading to your spot for the nighttime events. The park opens at 6 pm, so that leaves you with more than enough time to look around and make your selection!

If you are a seasoned GlobalFest fan, you’ll notice that things will be a little different this year. There will be no Children’s Village, cultural pavilions or community activation spaces.

Instead, the new Southview seating area will be opened up, giving pyromusical fans the closet, for-this-year-only vantage point to enjoy the show, , and allow for social distancing throughout the park.

There will also be mandatory masked and unmasked zones in the park to allow for everyone’s comfort and enjoyment.
