On May 25, downtown Toronto’s new IKEA will open its doors at the corner of Yonge and Gerrard. Not only can you score affordable furniture and home decor at the new location, but also some seriously cheap eats at the in-store Swedish Deli.
Curiocity got a sneak peek at the menu before the new store opens to the public and let’s just say it will satisfy your appetite and your wallet too.
Firstly, IKEA’s famous $1 hot dogs will be available here, along with $1.50 cinnamon buns and muffins.

For a toonie, you can get yourself a regular-sized frozen yogurt or strawberry plant-based frozen treat, and Sundaes are just $2.50 each.
If you’re on the hungier side, an order of 6-piece veggie balls served with potato salad, kimchi and marinated chickpeas costs just $5.49, and the 6-piece Swedish meatballs are two bucks more.
As for beverages, you can get a regular 12 oz coffee for $1, as well as a small espresso and Nordic fruit water in a variety of refreshing flavours for $1.50.
In addition to the healthy meals and beverages available to eat in, the Deli also sells on-the-go food options and sustainably sourced essentials to cook at home.
According to IKEA, this store “is the first store of its kind in Canada,” with a smaller store format, a unique food concept, and a curated selection of products to shop that are ideal for small living spaces.
“The 66,000 sq. ft. shopping destination will include more than 2,000 products for immediate takeaway, while larger furniture items will be on display and available for home delivery,” states IKEA.
They also add that the space will be a cashless store that offers an easy and seamless shopping experience where customers can scan and pay for products using the IKEA app, along with digital tools throughout and multiple checkout lanes available on both levels.
We don’t know about you, but we’re ready to throw our loonies and toonies at this epic menu.
