In May 2021, Seattle was blessed with a brand new vegan donut food truck, Dough Joy. It was sorely needed in a city that has fewer vegan options than one may expect. Understandably, it’s taken off and as a result of its popularity now has a permanent home on Seattle’s Capitol Hill.
Dough Joy’s Capitol Hill store opened its doors just last week to a perfectly pink interior with a minimalistic design so that you can focus on choosing your donut. Because when there are so many options, it’s hard to choose. You’ll find all your old favorite donut flavors, as well as some new ones.

According to the store’s Instagram, Birthday Cake was the most popular new flavor. Keep in mind that they regularly rotate and create new flavors, so you might just find a new fave each time you visit. And while the store works out all of its newnesses, they will be open until sold out each day and keep the food truck closed for the time being.
So treat yourself this week, head over to Capitol Hill, and nosh on a delicious plant-based donut. Psst if you grab a coffee, be sure to ask to have your drink topped with the pink plant-based whip, yes it’s a real thing. Enjoy!
