A FREE Diwali celebration is lighting up Seattle Center this weekend

Looking to experience something new this November? Diwali: Lights of India is coming to Seattle on Saturday, November 11th as part of the Seattle Center’s Festál series. It’s happening in partnership with Northwest Share and here’s what we know!

If you’re unfamiliar, Diwali is a traditional cultural celebration that is practiced throughout India each fall. According to the Seattle Center, “It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.”

During the festival, communities come together to lighthouses and businesses with lamps, oil lamps, and candles. Participants also wear new clothes and partake in things like family feasts, gift sharing, and firecrackers.

The Seattle Center Diwali celebration will feature “music, dance, visual arts, martial arts, a cooking demonstration, and more.”

Best of all, this festival is free to attend and you simply have to show up to enjoy it. As always, we will update you with any and all additional information if and when it becomes available. So mark your calendars and get ready to experience something new this November.
