Love interactive art exhibits? We’ve got the perfect summertime event for you. Eastside Art Society (EAS) just announced their 2nd annual CREATE! Arts Festival, which features the return of their wildly popular Art! Bike! Beer! Crawl Fundraiser. If you’re looking for the holy grail of arts festivals in Vancouver, then look no further.

Day 1: Interactive art workshops

First, let’s start off with day one of the CREATE! Arts Fest. Guests can expect 51 visual and performing art-making workshops taught by Eastside artists, including names like Eri Ishii, Russell Wallace, Christine Moulson, and Amberlie Perkin with a special kids workshop. The interactive art-making event will take place at Strathcona Park on Saturday, July 23rd.

Guests can choose from a variety of mediums, including ceramics, printmaking, glass fusing, poetry, painting, bookbinding, music and more.

The art fest is designed to deepen the connection between the public and local Eastside artists. What’s new this year? An Art Zone with three public art activities with various artists, plus beer, wine, and cider from Strange Fellows Brewing and tasty eats from a wide variety of local vendors.

Day 2: Art, bikes, and beer

Next up is day two of the festival on Sunday, July 24th. There will be 12 art-making workshops hosted at several Eastside studios, including Terminal City Glass Co-op (1191 Parker Street), and woodworking at the Mergatroid Building (975 Vernon Drive). For a complete list of the workshops available, you can take a look at the schedule here.
