This Oregon lake just ranked among the most beautiful places in the world

Perhaps we’re a bit biased, but in our eyes, the PNW is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Thanks to a new ranking from Travel + Leisure, we’re getting some confirmation on that belief. Crater Lake has ranked among the most beautiful places on Earth.

The ranking looks at it all, from cloud forests to glacial lakes, these destinations are the world’s best sights to see.

It’s easy to see why the mysterious lake made the cut, at 1,943 feet deep its the deepest lake in the US. Its mesmerizing blue waters are fed by rain and snow and are beloved by all who visit and hike there.

There are many ways to explore the National Park from its hiking trails to boat tours, and of course the 33-mile Rim Drive around the caldera. Keep in mind, like many National Parks, certain attractions and tours are seasonal.

If you’d like to visit the lake for yourself, it’s about a 6-hour drive from Seattle. You’ll have to purchase an access pass which starts as low as $20 in the winter but if you plan on visiting more than one National Park during the year it makes sense to purchase the annual pass for $80.

The only other west coast destination to make the cut was Big Sur.

Happy exploring!
