It might be natural to assume that Washington is the best state, after all, we live here. But how does our state compare to other states in the eyes of Americans? According to U.S. News, our state is actually one of the best in the country, let’s see why.

U.S. News & World Report, evaluated all 50 states across a range of categories to capture how states best serve their citizens. They decided the rankings using eight categories, including health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability, and crime & corrections.

These are the top 10 best states overall, according to the ranking:

  1. Utah
  2. Washington
  3. Idaho
  4. Nebraska
  5. Minnesota
  6. New Hampshire
  7. Iowa
  8. Wisconsin
  9. Vermont
  10. Florida

In our minds, Washington is number one but an official second place isn’t too shabby if you ask us. Our state-ranked #13 in economy, #10 in education, #4 in fiscal stability, #11 in health care, #6 in infrastructure, #4 in natural environment and #31 in opportunity.
