Who’s ready to plunge into a sea of cranberries?! Yep, it’s almost that time of year, Ontario. The Cranberry Plunge is back for 2024, the annual experience where you can wade through a sea of floating cranberries at Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh during the cranberry harvest.

Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh

The marsh spans 27 acres where each year around 300,000-400,000 lbs of cranberries are produced and picked!

Cranberries aren’t grown in water but they are harvested there! Harvesting cranberries in water makes them easier to pick by the hundreds, which is why guests get the experience of plunging in.

The Marsh is located within the Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery in Bala, Ontario. The cutest part? The farm is on Cranberry Road!

Cranberry Plunge

The Cranberry Plunge will run from September 21st – October 27th, 2024. All you have to do is bring yourself, the farm provides the chest waders which allow you to move through the sea of cranberries without getting wet.

The experience costs $20 a person and you must be over the height of 4′ 6″ to participate.

The plunge area is about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the entrance of the farm. After you’ve ventured through the cranberry-filled waters, you can try out one of the other farm activities such as a wine tasting, wagon ride, or a hike through the scenic trails.

All visits to the cranberry harvest have to be booked in advance online.

As for exploring the grounds and participating in other farm festivities, you can book them individually or purchase the all-access pass.
