If you’re visiting the Prince Edward County region, be sure to plan a stop at the Little Bluff Conservation Area. Located in Picton, Ontario, this historical region has natural features and epic views you won’t want to miss in this area!

Natural features of Little Bluff

According to Quinte Conservation, Little Bluff Conservation Area has a variety of short trails totalling 1.5 km that wind through the park.

But the most stunning feature here is the 20-metre high limestone bluff that “commands a panoramic view of the aqua blue waters in Prince Edward Bay.”

“Take the pathway to the cobblestone beach below and view the high bluff from a different perspective,” states Visit The County, which adds that there is a quiet shoreline that is actually a “barrier beach.”

This cobble stone beach is a barrier beach as it protects “a small wetland from the windswept waters of Prince Edward Bay. Here, Canada geese, mallards, great blue herons, bitterns and Virginia rails find the protected habitat they require.”

Historical aspect

Visit The Count states that this area has remains of a grain storage and docking facility where schooners once loaded barley destined for Oswego.

“During the 1860s to 1890s, all of Prince Edward County reveled in the wealth realized from the prosperous ‘Barley Days,'” it states.

Cost to visit

Of note, there is a fee to visit the area. Little Bluff Conservation Area will cost you $15 per vehicle.
