It’ll be a while before it’s officially patio season again, but that doesn’t mean we can’t hit up some amazing covered patios in the meantime and get cozy. Come rain or shine, these spots will be there to help us weather through whatever comes our way. From bars to cafes to breweries – to every garden patio in between – there’s truly a spot for everyone on this list.

Knock back a couple of lagers or sours under chilli pepper lights at one of Mount Pleasant’s most iconic breweries. Whether you’re going out on a Friday night or meeting friends after work, the vibes are laid back, retro, and incredible for patio hopping. Speaking of, there’s also Electric Bicycle right next door if you want to make a night of it.

To sweeten the pot during the week, they have Industry Nights every Monday with local DJs spinning and pints for $6.50.

As the name suggests, Banter Room is the perfect spot to link up with friends for a chat over some delicious, crafty drinks. Try some brunch specials like the Cornflake Fried Chicken & Waffles or Breakfast Bruschetta, or hit up their daily happy hour. There are also plenty of late-night (post-11 pm!) snacks to fuel your next night out if you’re looking for places that are open late.

The glass-covered courtyard patio at Brix and Mortar is the epitome of date night. White tablecloth-clad tables are surrounded by romantic vines, garden lights, and a giant chandelier. Oh, and it’s a heated patio – so a great pick for those chillier days ahead!

A garden patio at one of Vancouver’s top-notch Italian restaurants? Sign us up! Giardino boasts an incredible lush outdoor patio that makes you feel like you’re dining in a forest in northern Italy. Enjoy a Tuscan-style plate and a flight of gelato surrounded by beautiful greenery and twinkling fairy lights.

Finally, we come to one of our top picks for heated patios in the city by far. Not only did Anh and Chi usher in a new era of contemporary (and vegan) Vietnamese cuisine to the city, but they’ve also set a new standard for how you get to enjoy it – surrounded by beautiful vines, twinkling lights, and a fire pit. Our only advice? Come hungry and do not skip out on the spring rolls.
