Watch out, New York City. Move over, London. Step aside, Berlin. According to a new ranking by Time Out, the coolest street in the world is actually here in Canada.

Time Out reached out to 20,000 people and asked them to name the coolest street in their city.

From there, the outlet created a short list of the “vibiest streets” in every city they surveyed, and took those streets to their experts — a panel of local Time Out editors and contributors.

The results are in, and the coolest street on the planet right now is Rue Wellington in Verdun, Montreal. The street came in first place out of 33 cities worldwide.

“When a street is bookended by one of the best bars and one of the best new restaurants in the city, there’s no questioning its cool factor – especially when the city in question is one of the world’s gastronomic capitals,” says Time Out about Rue Wellington.

“From a sparkling new French bistro, Paname, to cult café Lili & Oli, this picturesque, bustling street in southwestern Montreal is home to almost 200 businesses, including a brand new local bagel shop.”

But, that’s not the only Canadian street mentioned in the ranking. Toronto’s Ossington Avenue landed in 14th place, just after Virgil Avenue in Los Angeles.

“Bustling Ossington is the place to go in Toronto for some of the city’s best restaurants, live music nearly every night of the week, and the kind of nights out that call for leather jackets, not heels,” writes Time Out.

Between the shopping, the dining, and the nightlife, there’s no doubt that Ossington is quickly outpacing Queen Street West as Toronto’s coolest strip.

Yep, it turns out that Canada is really making a name for itself on the world stage. And not just for its hockey and beavers.
