This small town in BC has a riverside suspension bridge with breathtaking views

The small town of Trail, British Columbia is full of charm, interesting sights, and outdoor wonders, and fall is a great time to get out there and explore it all.

With temperate weather this time of year, consider Trail the gateway to your adventures in the Kootenays. The historic “Home of Champions” offers plenty of exciting live sports games, and its natural scenery includes breathtaking views of the Columbia River and Monashee Mountains.

So no matter what you end up doing during your visit, you’re guaranteed to have an exceptional time!

Columbia River Skywalk

As far as river activities go, visitors can embark on a fishing, boating, or kayak adventure year-round, relax on a scenic beach, or stroll across the Columbia River Skywalk – the longest of its kind in North America at 1,000 feet long!

The remarkable riverside suspension bridge spans the Columbia River from Rotary Park in West Trail to McQuarrie Street in East Trail.

Note that the walkway is part of the vast Trans Canada Trail’s Great Trail network, and is bike, stroller, and wheel-chair friendly.

The adjacent Gyro Park and mountain golfing at Redstone Golf Course are two other popular outdoor attractions in the area.

Come wintertime, the nearby Red Mountain Resort and Whitewater Ski Resort become snowboarding hubs and great places to enjoy primo powder – minus the crowds.

So there you have it, BC! If you’re looking to add a cool small town to your itinerary in the Kootenays, consider checking off this charming, outdoor-forward community!
