Summer calls for lazy days on the beach, and if you’re looking for a day trip destination where beautiful scenery meets small-town charm, then you’ll want to pay a visit to Cobourg Beach.

This beach was once a well-kept secret by locals but has since become more popular because of how special it is.

It’s located in the quaint waterfront town of Cobourg, which is less than 90 minutes from Toronto.

With soft white sand, a bustling boardwalk, and calm blue waters, Cobourg Beach checks all the right boxes.

It also has cute retro-style lifeguard towers for those photo ops and beach volleyball nets you can reserve.

“Looking out across the water on Cobourg beach with no land in [sight], you will swear you’re sitting somewhere ocean-side in the Caribbean,” says the local tourism site Experience Cobourg.

The town hosts events on its main beach throughout the summer, and gets quite busy, especially on warm summer weekends.

This main beach is actually called Victoria Park Beach, but there is also a quieter stretch of sand away from the crowds called West Beach, says Destination Ontario.

As you may guess from the name, this smaller beach is located west of Victoria Park Beach.

Experience Cobourg calls West Beach “hidden natural treasure,” but it’s not well-marked, so you will have to do some exploring to find it.

Cobourg Beach is so special that it was once named one of the top beaches worth visiting near Toronto by VRBO.

In addition to the beach, you’ll also fall in love with the charming town of Cobourg — its streets are filled with specialty shops, restaurants, and local businesses of all kinds.

So the next time you’re in the mood for a scenic day trip, this destination won’t leave you disappointed.
