Whether it’s to fix those pesky tan lines or simply unwind in nature in your ‘birthday suit,’ there are draws to visiting clothing-optional beaches, and there are a couple to visit in and around Vancouver this summer. So let’s dive right in!

Of course, we have to start off with the most famous clothing-optional beach in the area: Wreck Beach at UBC. It’s arguably the most well-known clothing-optional beach around, and a popular destination regardless of whether or not you decide to shed some clothes. The legally nude shoreline stretches over 5 kilometres, so there’s plenty of space to carve out your own slice of paradise. Plus, this spot is revered for its beautiful sunsets!

Known for being a bit of a trek down 490 steps, the beach offers a mix of sun, sand, rocks, and shady forested trails. So it’s definitely worth checking out sometime this summer!

Three Mile Beach, Penticton

A mix of sandy and rocky beaches, Three Mile Beach is located on Okanagan Lake between Penticton and Naramata. A small peninsula juts out into the lake, and it’s here that local nudists eventually won over the legal attempt to make it clothing-optional. Part of the area, that is.

There are two distinct beaches on either side of the peninsula, which meet in the middle. One beach boasts fine sand, stunning views, and is clothing-optional. The second beach faces Penticton, and is a bit rockier, but no less beautiful to settle in for a picnic and a swim.

Note that the second beach is not clothing-optional.
