You’ve heard of clothing-optional beaches in Toronto, but it looks like you won’t have to wait until summer to strip down in public! A new clothing-optional bar called Starkers is opening in the city this spring.
The owner of Starkers, Marc Gonsalvez, told Curiocity in an interview that “this city is long overdue for a safe space where people can celebrate their bodies and let it all hang out.”
“This kind of thing has existed in Europe for decades,” he said. “I wanted to be the first one to introduce Toronto to a clothing-optional experience that is totally inclusive and not creepy.”
Patrons are more than welcome to keep their clothes on, but if you want to dance with your pants off, knock yourself out.

“I only have one ground rule, and that’s not to stare at or touch anyone without consent,” said Gonsalvez. “If you do either of those things, you’ll be kicked out.”
As for the cocktail menu, you can expect playful drink names like Peep Show, Sunset Strip, and our personal favourite, Cheeky Bastard.
Starkers is set to open in the Junction in late May.
An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, but you’ll find out here first, so stay tuned!
