If this sounds like something you’d love to experience, keep on reading.
According to Parks Canada, Beausoleil Island National Historic Site of Canada is the largest island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park.
It’s located at Severn Sound and is named after Louis Beausoleil, a Métis settler whose 1819 homestead stood at the island’s southern tip.
“The landscape consists of swamp and Canadian Shield,” shares Parks Canada.
Not only will cycling help you explore the island to the fullest degree but it’ll help you cover more ground.
Bring your bike or rent one. Bike rentals are available at the Cedar Spring Visitor Centre on Beausoleil Island for adult riders.

If you plan to ride, the Huron, Christian and Georgian trails are open to all for cycling.
“The Huron and Christian trails offer a very pleasant ride through mature forest, while the Georgian trail is a more difficult challenge with technical, rocky sections,” share Parks Canada. “These trails also provide access to most other trails in the park.”
Rather go for a walk? There are 12 trails on the island from short walks to the most rugged hikes.
“Northern Beausoleil trails showcase the beauty of the Canadian Shield. This area’s characteristic bedrock and wetland environment is rich in species diversity and is a major breeding area for amphibians, turtles and snakes,” shares Parks Canada.
“The trails in Southern Beausoleil pass through a rich mosaic of forest communities. This area’s mixed forest is a good representation of the West St. Lawrence Lowlands natural region.”
