The City of Vancouver is hiring for these jobs that pay over $30 an hour

Looking for competitive pay and benefits for your next temporary or permanent role? The City of Vancouver has many jobs open in various fields that you can apply for right now. Let’s take a look!

Parks, Recreation, and Culture

It’s the season for camping and hiking, which means BC’s parks are in need of staff in various fields. According to the department page, Parks & Recreation employees connect residents to green spaces across the city, with jobs at parks, golf courses, community centres, playing fields, and a plethora of destination beaches and gardens.

Open roles include Landscape Designer ($38.68 to $45.68 per hour), Operations Worker II – Seasonal Parks Laborer ($30.42 an hour) and Lifeguard I ($30.80 an hour)

For the latter, individuals with minimal to no lifeguarding experience can easily become licensed and earn $30+ an hour.

Engineering Services

If you’re looking for more options, the City’s Engineering Services division has a ton of open positions right now, ranging from Engineering Assistant III ($34.23 to $40.29 per hour) to Electrical Apprentice ($17.58 to 39.43 per hour)

According to the City, its Engineering Services department is responsible for “infrastructure essential to the quality of life for residents and businesses,” which includes everything from sewage and drainage to public spaces, transportation, and water distribution. Hence, the “broad and varied work” it requires.

Note that the City of Vancouver follows a COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy. Benefits for all employees include complete healthcare coverage, cheaper Translink passes, an Earned Days Off (EDO) program, access to fitness & wellness workshops, and free counselling services.

And that’s a wrap on some City of Vancouver jobs worth checking out this month. Happy job hunting!
