Snow Day (2000)
Starring Chevy Chase (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation), Chris Elliott (Schitt’s Creek) and Josh Peck (Drake and Josh), this early 2000s holiday movie was filmed in Edmonton AND Calgary – but best of all, it’s almost guaranteed to unlock a childhood memory or two. Happy viewing!

The 12 Days of Christmas Eve (2004)
It’s deja vu! The 12 Days of Christmas Eve is familiar and not just because it was filmed here in Alberta! This film most notably stars Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live) and is only what we can describe as a very merry Groundhog Day.

A Snowglobe Christmas (2013)
Starring Donald Faison (Scrubs), Alicia Witt (Dune) and Christina Milian (Love Don’t Cost A Thing), A Snowglobe Christmas, was partly filmed here in Alberta. As the name would suggest, the movie follows a cynical TV exec who gets trapped in a snow globe over the holidays and has to navigate her new life. Check it out!

Christmas in Wonderland (2006)
A movie actually based in West Edmonton Mall, Christmas in Wonderland stars Tim Curry (Rocky Horror Picture Show), Carmen Electra (Bay Watch) and the late, great Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing) whose two kids find a bag of counterfeit cash. It’s kooky, it’s cute and it was filmed in Alberta. What could be better?

The Christmas Blessing (2005)
In your feelings? Maybe don’t watch The Christmas Blessing. Starring Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), this film follows a young doctor who has to face his tragic past when he returns to his hometown during the holiday and is sad as hell. It was filmed in Edmonton, so it might be worth it anyway.

Holiday in Handcuffs (2006)
Starring Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina The Teenaged Witch) and Mario Lopez (Saved By The Bell), Holiday in Handcuffs follows a struggling waitress who kidnaps one of her customers and brings him home for Christmas. How festive!

12 Men of Christmas (2009)
Filmed in Calgary, 12 Men of Christmas is a run-of-the-mill holiday rom-com that stars Kristin Chenoweth (Bewitched) as a high-powered publicist who finds herself in Montana after being betrayed by her boss and fiancé. Is it Oscar-worthy? No – but it’s cute and Chenoweth is an icon.

Santa Baby 2 (2009)
Filmed in Calgary, Santa Baby 2 follows Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg (Dirty Love) who must find her missing dad before the holidays. The twist? Her Pops is THE Kris Kringle.
