There’s something undeniably magical about Main Street in Unionville, Ont., when the holidays roll in. Its heritage storefronts are decorated in twinkling lights, and holiday music sets the tone, bringing the festive spirit to its streets. This year, that festive feeling arrives with a few surprises in store thanks to its annual Christmas Celebration on Main Street, Unionville.

On Dec. 6, 2025, Main Street will transform into a charming Christmas village, inviting visitors to take in the season at their own pace. From 2 to 7 p.m., the street comes alive with entertainment, Santa sightings, and the warm, familiar sound of Christmas carolers.

What to expect

Looking for a more creative take on the season? There’s a free Old Tyme Christmas Ornament workshop, hosted at the Varley Art Gallery from 4 to 6 p.m. It’s the perfect moment to slow down, make something unique and share the Christmas joy.

As twilight settles in, the festivities shift to the Crosby Arena for the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony starting at 6 p.m.

In partnership with the City of Markham, the ceremony also includes a special appearance from Santa himself.

The evening doesn’t end there, though! Celebrations continue along Main Street from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., with an LED Duo Show paired with more carolling.

And for those who associate the season with gliding across fresh ice, the fun continues at Crosby Community Centre with free skating from 8 to 10 p.m.

Though the ongoing restoration on the street means we won’t see a parade, the team is still making sure festivities will be just as bright and enjoyable as in years before.
