Chipotle is giving BC & Ontario employees a nice wage bump and opening its first Canadian drive-thru

If you’re on the job hunt, Chipotle wants your resume. The restaurant chain has announced that all employees in Ontario and British Columbia are getting an increase in minimum pay to $15 and $16 an hour, respectively — the wage bump takes effect today. In Ontario, general minimum wage is currently $14.25 and is set to rise 10 cents on October 1, 2021. In B.C., minimum wage is currently $15.20 per hour.

This comes as the chain announces 6 new locations opening in both provinces by the end of this year, along with its first ‘Chipotlane’ drive-thru in Canada, coming to Port Coquitlam this fall. The digital order lanes are so fast to use that they take under a minute, according to Chipotle.

Plus, there’s a chance to turn your part-time gig into a six-figure salary position in just a few years. Chipotle says that crew members can climb the ranks to the highest General Manager position, which pays over $100,000 per year.

Employees get to take advantage of great benefits and also cash bonuses for referrals. Chipotle staff members will get a $200 bonus for referring a crew member and $750 for referring a General Manager or Apprentice.

The chain also announced a new perk for customers today. Chipotle is scrapping delivery fees for all Canadian customers through August 29 when you order through the restaurant’s app or website.

Another U.S.-based chain is planning its expansion across Canada as well. Chick-fil-A just opened up its third Ontario restaurant to crowds of eager customers and protestors, with plans to open up two more in Toronto. Better watch out, Chick-fil-A — Chipotle might have just won us over.
