Here are some of the cheapest neighbourhoods in Vancouver for rentals right now

Unsurprisingly, Vancouver remains one of the most expensive places to live in the country. Right now, the average rent for an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment is down $6 from last month at $2,251 per month – which isn’t exactly a huge win, but we’ll take it. And when it comes to finding affordable rentals, a new report by liv.rent is here to shed some light on the cheapest neighbourhoods in Vancouver. Let’s dive in!

Cheapest neighbourhoods in Vancouver

Some of the cheapest rentals in Vancouver can currently be found in Sunset-Victoria Fraserview, where the average rent sits at $1,952 per month for an unfurnished one-bedroom and $2,551 for a two-bedroom unit.

Kerrisdale, Hastings-Sunrise, and Renfrew-Collingwood follow, with rents that are at least $200 less than the city average.

Kerrisdale is known for its tree-lined streets, large, older homes, and abundance of boutique shops and restaurants. And it’s only a 15 to 25-minute drive to downtown. One-bedrooms average $2,183 per month, and two-bedrooms cost around $2,650 per month.

Hastings-Sunrise is even closer to the downtown core, and comes with a rich history, access to Commercial Drive, and a mix of single-family detached residences and low-rise residential buildings. The neighbourhood is consistently one of the most affordable in Vancouver – with an average of $2,243 per month for a one-bedroom, and $2,675 for a two-bedroom.

As for Renfrew-Collingwood, renters looking for more family-friendly homes are in luck. Situated in the far east of the city, the largely residential neighbourhood offers residents plenty of parks, including Renfrew Ravine Park and the Still Creek watershed. The average rent for a one-bedroom is $2,278, and $2,851 per month for a two-bedroom. Compared to the average of $3,444 in Vancouver as a whole, this is still a great deal.
