“Alberta’s rent prices change drastically depending on the time of year. Generally speaking though, the province’s two main cities, Calgary and Edmonton, have the highest average rent prices due to their popularity and the comparatively high volume of rental activity. Historically, Calgary has seen considerably higher rental rates,” they explained.

“Outside of these two metropolitan areas, average rent prices tend to be significantly lower, though this varies depending on their popularity and the availability of rental housing, as some areas”

So which destinations came out on top?

According to the rental platform, Lloydminster is the cheapest city to rent in Alberta right now.

With the monthly rent of a one-bedroom unit averaging $1,125 a month, the Eastern spot is revered for its strong sense of community, recreation activities and various parks.

In addition to the border-straddling city, Grande Prairie, Red Deer and Lethbridge were named among the most affordable.
