As if this Toronto-born talent hasn’t done enough! In the latest from Scarborough’s very own The Weeknd, it looks like the local (and international) superstar is branching out from music and into the film and television industry. The icon just announced an exciting partnership with HBO to develop a brand new series alongside Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

The three time Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and record producer will be taking a swing a screenwriting with the new series. According to Variety, The Weeknd will co-write and star in the exciting upcoming project.

So, what’ll the show be about? Not too many details have been released so far, but according to Variety, the series will follow “a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.” Our guess? They recently watched Uncut Gems and realized that The Weeknd ain’t such a bad actor himself!

As it stands now, the show will be titled “The Idol.” How enticing!

It’s certainly exciting stuff, people! There’s no word yet on when the show will shoot or be released, but we’ll be waiting on the edge of our seats until then.

Give it up for Toronto-born the talent!
