Indigo just announced Canada’s romance book trends and I dove in

As a certified book girly, I am always looking for my next read. Recently, since joining a book club, I have read more romance novels than ever, and take any and all recommendations. Indigo just dropped a few lists ahead of Valentine’s Day, highlighting the top romance books, trends, and book boyfriends of the year. So, if you’re looking for a book for your February book club or want to stock up for your personal collection, this is your sign.

“Romance readers are more intentional than ever about what they’re picking up next, and characters play a huge role in that decision,” says Kaitlynd Carmichael, Print Category Manager at Indigo.

With that being said, let’s start with the top book boyfriends (in no particular order).

  • Alex Nilsen – People We Meet on Vacation
  • Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov – Heated Rivalry
  • Charlie Florek – One Golden Summer
  • Dominic Alexander – Restore Me
  • Josh Chen – Twisted Hate

Thoughts? Now on to the top romance books.

  • Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid
  • Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh
  • Lights Out by Navessa Allen
  • In Your Dreams by Sarah Adams
  • Twisted Love by Ana Huang
  • Regretting You by Colleen Hoover
  • Nocticadia (Deluxe) by Keri Lake
  • Mate by Ali Hazelwood
  • The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
  • Catch Her If You Can by Tessa Bailey

Indigo also shared with Curiocity “the most popular romance genres to close out 2025,” which includes:

  • Dark Romance
  • Cowboy Romance
  • Cozy Seasonal Romance
  • Sports Romance
  • Romantic Drama

Well, looks like we have some reading to do. I’ll be grabbing some new books this week, and I hope you got some ideas for your next purchase.
