If Canadian winters are no match for your sense of adventure, this unique experience is a must for your bucket list. Quebec’s Hôtel de Glace is the only accommodation of its kind in North America, made entirely out of shimmering ice.

The hotel is opening its doors at the peak of the winter season in early January 2022 for another year of frozen magic. The Nordic-themed getaway requires some preparation in advance, starting with many warm layers of clothing.

The hotel even has a recommended guide for how to layer your clothing properly to ensure that you stay toasty while experiencing Quebec in the wintertime.

Before you tuck yourself into bed for the night, you can get your body to a comfortable temperature at the hotel’s Nordic Area, inside the hot tubs and sauna under the stars. Then you’ll want to warm up and dry yourself correctly before hitting the hay — don’t worry, you’ll be given a crash course in all of this during your mandatory training session when you arrive.

There are all kinds of ice-sculpted suites you can book at the Hôtel de Glace with different amenities and perks, including a cozy fireplace, elaborate artwork carved into the walls, cocktails served in an ice glass, access to the skating path, comfy arctic sleeping bags, and more. Your room will be kept at a temperature of 3 C to 5 C.

You can add to your experience by booking a massage at the spa, or even a wedding ceremony tailored to your budget. The hotel has a few promotions running ahead of its opening on January 2nd, 2022.

Hôtel de Glace isn’t the only unique accommodation to open in Quebec this winter. Canada’s very first Club Med resort is opening at Québec Charlevoix with all the winter activities you can handle.

If Quebec’s ice hotel sounds like a thrill you can’t pass up on this winter, you can book your stay now. Just keep in mind that these suites don’t exactly come cheap.
