Canada’s very first authentic wine village is right here in BC, and has officially opened for the summer! Starting today, wine lovers and curious travellers alike can check out this massive new development showcasing some amazing local producers. So, let’s see what’s in store!

The development, located just outside of Oliver, is called the District Wine Village. And essentially, it is like a gathering place for the region’s wineries and other prodcuers. The Village will have 16 production facilities with tasting rooms, an on-site vineyard, and an amphitheatre right in the middle of it all. So, everything you need to ‘properly’ taste some tasty bottles of wine.

And it’s not just wine on the menu, either. In addition to a culinary experience centre, The Village’s production facilities can handle all kinds of makers, including cideries, breweries and distillers. We’re thinking of it as like an alcoholic version of heading to the mall, and that sounds just about perfect to us. Especially in the middle of a scorching-hot Okanagan summer.

With construction complete, District Wine Village already has a handful of great names in there. We’re particularly pumped about Wapiti Cellars, which has been a staple Okanagan producer for a decade. However, we’re sure that’s just a great way to dip our toes in the tasting waters.

After all, if we’re going, we’re going to make the most of it!
