Leave hibernation to the bears. Winter for us is a time to enjoy hot lattes, chilly outdoors, snowy surroundings and tons of fun festivals. Yes, tons because Edmonton, dubbed ‘Canada’s Festival City’, has dropped its festival line-up for the winter. And it’s impressive as hell.
Over the past few years, the city has become a festival hub with a festival for just about every reason and every season. And they certainly haven’t disappointed with their winter line-up.

There’s something for everyone— the foodie, the adventurer, the creative, the I-love-holiday-season-er.
There are also several fests for the art enthusiast and culture connoisseur. Consider Silver Skate Festival, Deep Freeze Festival, Flying Canoë Volant and Chiseled: Edmonton International Ice Carving Competition.

Just FYI: SkirtsAfire is on our radar. The multidisciplinary arts festival featuring women promises oodles of fun through theatre, music, dance, comedy, visual art, spoken word, workshops, design and more.
And no, they haven’t forgotten the thrill-seekers and the outdoor junkies. The Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival is for you. Be a part of one of only three Birkebeiner Loppets in the world. Glide down slopes. And indulge in a three-day celebration of the winter’s oldest sport, classic cross-country skiing.
