Ontario is home to the largest outdoor pool in Canada and it just so happens to be opening for the season. Though Byng Island Conservation Area opened back in May, its massive pool had not. But now, eager swimmers can expect the attraction to open later this week. Here’s everything you need to know.

It’ll only take you about a 90-minute drive outside of Toronto to enjoy this conservation area. Byng Island provides access to the Grand River and Lake Erie for paddling, fishing, and sailing, according to its site.

It spans 190 hectares and is made up of Carolinian forests, wetlands, and creeks, according to the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA).

But, one of the biggest (if not biggest) highlights of this area is its outdoor swimming pool.

Per the official website, the “largest outdoor pool in Canada” will tentatively open on June 15, 2024 until Labour Day. Pool hours are from 11 AM to 6:30 PM, and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

It is two acres in size and can hold up to 1,000 people. It also has a diving board!

For visitors aged 4 and older, a wristband is required for entry and it costs $2.75.

Given the popularity of this pool, it may reach capacity, especially on hot summer days. So make sure to check its real-time capacity updates online before you visit.

Though summer isn’t here yet, it sure does feel like it and we’re not complaining.
