Alberta is a crazy place with even crazier weather. Yesterday, parts of the province, including YYC saw something that, until today, we didn’t think was even possible. Not only did Calgarians catch a glimpse of a freaking meteor Monday morning, but we also got hit with a rare Thundersnow storm. Talk about a coincidence…

Now, to anyone who didn’t witness it for themselves, Thundersnow must sound like nothing more than an 80s hair metal band – but let us assure you, it was very real. It was honesty also kind of terrifying, but don’t just take our word for it, see it for yourself!

Like with… well, literally everything, Mother Nature’s tantrum was documented best by the folks on Twitter, so let’s take a walk down memory lane with the blue team, shall we?

It all started with yesterday morning’s Alberta winter storm warning. We’ve seen these a million times before, so of course, nobody really thought much of it.

… until a lightning strike was reported in East Coulee…

Soon after that, things got a little bit wild for the prairie province.

And the thundersnow storm had made its way to Calgary

Eventually, things did die down, but we took quite the ride to get there.

Yep, folks. Yesterday was a big one for us. We shook, we ogled, we were in awe… and we were reminded that the MN is always in charge. We hope that you stayed safe, were smart and that you know the difference between ‘lightening’ and ‘lightning.’ Until next time!
