Alberta has seen many a film crew roll in and out of its cities, towns and parks. but (in our humble opinion) nothing will ever top 2009, when not only did mad genius and time junkie, Christopher Nolan hit the hills of Fortress Mountain Ski resort, so did DiCaprio, Page, Hardy and Gordon-Levitt as part of the Inception cast.

From sightings to just knowing that magic was being made only a few kilometres from Calgary, local movie buffs had plenty to be pretty stoked about.

Obviously, like almost every event or occasion in our lifetime, seeing a photo of something you were excited about years later can make you kind of giddy, which is exactly how we felt when Joseph Gordon Levitt shared a few snaps on his Twitter – even giving a shoutout in the caption.

“Fortress Mountain was certainly the biggest set, but more importantly than the set, is the setting, you know, for Chris,” said production designer, Guy Hendrix Dyas after the movie had been released. “He wanted to be able to look out a window and see these absolutely beautiful backdrops of mountains that could not be achieved digitally.”

It’s clear that they came to the right place and we’re not just saying that because we’re biased. The final result looked freaking wicked and just goes to show what we, as a province, have to offer here.

Now, if you excuse us, we have to go rewatch the movie for the gazillionth time and then wrestle with our psyche for a few hours. Was the top still spinning at the end? Let us know what you think in the comments.
