The job market lately has a lot of us feeling like the wacky, waving, inflatable, arm-flailing tube man. But if you’re looking for a new gig, Calgary might be one of the best places, according to a recent list put together by Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

The editorial competition is in its 26th year, and the list of Canada’s Top 100 employers includes detailed explanations on why each was chosen. It’s a rigorous selection process, and we’re relieved to see that nine Calgary employers made the cut.

According to the publication, any employer in the private or public sector with head offices in Canada may apply to compete. Across Canada, there were 15 employers in Toronto, seven in Vancouver and one in Edmonton who were listed amongst the country’s top workplaces. Calgary had nine top employers, making it one of the most employable cities in Canada. Way to go, eh!

Here are the companies that topped the list in Calgary (in alphabetical order):

  • Bird Construction Inc.
  • Canada Energy Regulator
  • Dentons Canada LLP
  • Gibson Energy Inc.
  • Graham Construction
  • Inter Pipeline Ltd.
  • Keyera Corp.
  • Mawer Investment Management Ltd.
  • Shell Canada Limited

For each employer, specific perks were mentioned. For example, Bird Construction Inc. makes learning an essential part of its work culture by creating a goal of 65 learning hours per employee. With a staff of 2,130, that’s a lot of hours invested in employee education and retention.

Similarly, Gibson Energy Inc. was notable for the significant investments it makes in the well-being of its workforce. The company provides up to $15,000 of coverage for employee mental health services, which includes eligible dependents. At Keyera Corp, employees can take advantage of a fitness facility on-site, which includes a weight and cardio room, daily fitness classes and a sports court. Sweet!

If you’re keen on lining up a new job for 2026, you might want to take a peek at this list before you start polishing up your résumé. It’s definitely fantastic to know that Calgary is such an employable city!
